Watkins Wheat Pangenome Data Explorer
Explore gene presence/absence variation across 1,038 accessions and 281,816 pangenes, including 163,778 new putative genes, discovered in the Watkins landrace collection.
About this resource
There is a need to breed superior wheat cultivars to meet increasing global food demand. A pool of genetic diversity remains untapped in the Watkins wheat landraces, and pangenomics can help identify genes of potential agronomic importance in these old lines that can be applied to accelerate wheat improvement.
This resource provides researchers with access to the Watkins wheat pangenome, representing 1,038 diverse individuals, including 826 landrace and 212 modern cultivar accessions, obtained from 47 countries across six continents.
Explore
A data portal to visualise and filter the Watkins wheat pangenome PAV matrix. Supports filtering of accessions by metadata, such as ancestral group, longitude and latitude.
New Genes
An overview of the new gene models identified in the Watkins Wheat pangenome and how PAV of these genes is distributed across each wheat ancestral group, country and continent.
BLAST
BLASTN and BLASTP search functionality that allows users to query the Watkins pangenome for genes and proteins, and to visualise PAV distribution across ancestral groups.
